Leave a Legacy
IBH Addiction Recovery is a partner with the Summit/Portage/Medina chapter of the national Leave a Legacy organization, striving to educate the residents of our area about the importance and ease of leaving a bequest in order to make a difference in the lives that follow.
An example of language you can use to leave a bequest in your will is, “I give and bequeath to Interval Brotherhood Homes, Inc. (the sum of $__________ of ____%) to support its exempt purposes (or insert the name of a program or project).”
Life Insurance Policies
You can make a gift to IBH Addiction Recovery of your paid-up life insurance policy, or you can buy a new life insurance policy and name IBH Addiction Recovery as the owner and beneficiary. With a gift of a paid-up life insurance policy, you can deduct the cash value of the policy at the time of the gift. With the purchase of a new policy, you would establish the policy and then transfer ownership to IBH Addiction Recovery. If there are premium payments that remain to be paid, you can make annual gifts to IBH Addiction Recovery to cover the cost of the premium, an amount which is also tax-deductible to you.
Retirement Plan Assets
As with a life insurance gift, naming IBH Addiction Recovery as a beneficiary designation can offer you significant value. Due to estate and income taxes, family members usually only receive 25-30 percent of an IRA or retirement plan. Much of this tax can be avoided if the assets are instead used to fund a bequest to IBH Addiction Recovery.
